Happy Secret Challenge: Day One

I am creating/participating in a Happy Secret Challenge inspired by a TED video I recently watched.

My goal for the next 21 days is to write three gratitudes and to journal about one positive experience from the day.  The gratitudes can be trivial or deep.  And even on the toughest of days there is at least ONE thing that is positive or goes well.

These are the definitions I am currently using in my challenge...
Gratitude: thankfulness, gratefulness or appreciation;
a feeling or attitude in recognition of a benefit that someone has received.

The goal is to retrain your brain to begin to look for the positives instead of the negatives.  There are other pieces to the challenge as well but for today we start with these two:

Three Gratitudes:
1. I am grateful that I don't have to worry where I will sleep but that I have my own bed.
2. I am grateful that I go to bed satisfied, rather than hungry.
3. I am grateful that I have clothes to keep me warm on a cold winter's night.

I am grateful.

One Positive From Today:
I was invited to join some colleagues for a "Book Club" after school today.  Our "Book Clubs" don't actually involve books, but rather a group of us getting together for a happy hour drink or two to wind down from a crazy week as a middle school teacher.  Anyway, I am battling a migraine and was thinking of passing, but was invited by a couple different people so I decided to go.  It was a small group of us, but I had a really good time.  We were able to process some things regarding students, get to know each other a little better... and lots of laughter.  It was definitely what I needed after some of the Crazy Train that was my classroom today :)
